AnotherRTSP is a lightweight, ergonomic RTSP stream player for Windows, designed for users who need to monitor CCTV cameras without interrupting their daily work. Instead of forcing you into a full-screen surveillance console, AnotherRTSP integrates directly into your desktop workflow, keeping camera feeds visible, accessible, and unobtrusive.

Inspired by the macOS-only SecuritySpy, AnotherRTSP was created to fill a long-standing gap on Windows: a comfortable, low-friction RTSP viewer that prioritizes usability over feature bloat.

AnotherRTSP focuses on ergonomics first:

Powerful RTSP Playback Engine

Under the hood, AnotherRTSP is built on LibEasyPlayer, a mature and highly compatible RTSP playback library used in commercial surveillance systems. This provides:

  • Ultra-low-latency RTSP playback
  • Exceptional compatibility with a wide range of IP cameras
  • Support for RTSP over TCP and UDP
  • Hardware and software decoding options
  • Real-time recording and snapshot capture

Supported codecs include:

  • Video: H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, MJPEG
  • Audio: G.711A/U, G.726, AAC

This approach avoids many real-world compatibility issues common with FFmpeg-only RTSP players.

MQTT Integration & Event Awareness

AnotherRTSP integrates seamlessly with home automation and video analytics systems such as Blue Iris and Frigate via MQTT:

  • Subscribe to custom MQTT topics
  • React to events like motion or object detection
  • Visual feedback via LED indicators
  • Sound alerts, balloon tooltips, and notifications
  • Fully user-defined rule-based reactions

This allows camera intelligence to surface directly on the desktop, not buried in another UI.

AnotherRTSP is actively developed and used in real-world environments. You can download it here. It is available for Windows XP through Windows 11, and distributed under the Business Source License 1.1:
